PRC Issues Findings regarding 10-Year Ratemaking Review
On Friday, December 1, 2017, the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) issued its findings (190 page report) related to the 10-year review of the system for regulating rates and classes for Market Dominant products. Postal law also known as PAEA (Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act), which was enacted in December 2006, provided for this 10-year review.

PRC Releases Approval for USPS 2018 Price Increase
On Thursday, November 9, 2016, the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) issued its decision regarding the Postal Service’s 2018 Market Dominant Price Case. The Postal Service had originally filed its request on October 6, 2017. The PRC approved implementation of the January 21, 2018 proposed price changes for: First‐Class Mail, Standard (aka Marketing) Mail, Periodical, Package Services, and Special Services products. The Commission determined that the rates and related mail classification changes proposed by the Postal Service are consistent with applicable law and regulations.

United States Postal Services Files for 2018 Price Increase
On Friday, October 6, 2017, the U.S. Postal Service filed with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) a price adjustment notice associated with changes in the Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers on "Market Dominant" products. Based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Postal Service has inflation-based price adjustment authority of 1.905% for First-Class Mail, 1.908% for Marketing Mail, 1.924% for Periodicals Mail, 1.960% for Package Services Mail and 1.986% for Special Services.
