There can be many ways to create PDFs from your document in today’s layout applications. However when preparing then for the RR Donnelley Pontiac Digital Solution Center (DSC) it is important that they are prepared according to our specifications to ensure that they will print correctly. How to Make PDFs from Adobe InDesign
There are two methods to produce PDFs from Adobe InDesign that are acceptable when supplying files the RRD Pontiac Digital Solution Center (DSC). You can print a postscript file from Indesign and process it into a PDF using Adobe Distiller or you can export PDFs directly from Indesign. We recommend you make you PDFs using the print to postscript method because they tend to be more reliable however the method you choose is up to you. Read more.
How to Make PDFs from Quark Xpress
Although Quark Xpress is capable of exporting PDFs directly doing so will cause issues when the PDFs are uploaded to InSite. Therefore the only approved method for creating PDFs from Quark Xpress is to generate a postscript file from you document and use Adobe Acrobat Distiller to convert it into a PDF using the approved RRD job options. How to Assemble Front Cover and Spine
When supplying the cover and spine to the RRD Pontiac DSC it is important that they be assembled together into a single PDF file. Not only will this ensure that they are laid out correctly but it will also make upload processing quicker. Read more.
