...can they match it? You've seen many proofs, but occasionally the printing doesn't match the one on which you put your signature. How can you be sure the printing you receive will match this proof?
We've developed a color management process to assure color consistency from proof to proof and press to press. At Nielsen we've turned theory into an everyday occurrence. Color management starts with a calibrated proof. Our contract color proof - the digital Fuji FinalProof - is calibrated to commercial printing GRACoL specifications. That means your proof is produced with standard densities and dot gains and is balanced to run with industry standard inks.
We can match our proof because we know how each of our presses prints on various stocks. We've determined the printing characteristics of our equipment by running standard test forms on every press. By comparing the dot gain characteristics for each press to the GRACoL specifications, we can identify a "curve" that is used to output a calibrated digital CTP plate.
With our calibrated proof and plate, we can run with standard ink densities and match your approved proof. To ensure our process stays in calibration we measure every proof to verify it matches the GRACoL specification within a very tight tolerance.
The final step is verification. We monitor all processes to ensure consistent, quality outputs-including proofs, plates, and our press sheets.
At Nielsen, color management is more than theory, it's the quality you want and expect.

- Proofs that are run to an industry standard, not a proofing systems standard
- Consistency from proof to proof, day to day, project to project
- More efficient press approvals because the plate is calibrated to press capabilities
- Consistency from press to press due to an understanding of how our presses perform
- Less pressure for you - the proof you approve is "printable"
