The City of Boulder, Colorado wanted to include variable full color property photos in their 2005 annual property value evaluation statements. Previous consideration of full color production proved to be too costly.
Over 78,000 variable six-page statements needed to be imaged, collated, folded, inserted and mailed in under five days. Three different offset preprinted paper stocks were utilized in the job - including a stock that was pre-perforated. Both full color and black and white variable imaging were required. We utilized a combination of both conventional offset printing and Xerox iGen3 imaging to produce this project quickly and cost effectively.
Our Creo Spire DFE allowed us to rasterize in full color at 600 dpi and print at the full rated engine speed of 110 pages per minute.
Six paper drawers easily accommodated the three different stocks required to produce this job. Selective tray pulls were utilized to automatically feed the preprinted shells in the proper sequence. The intermixed pages were imaged (one in color and the other two in black and white only), collated and stacked.
The completed, multi-page statements were inserted into envelopes using our MailStar CS500 inserting system. Pages were accumulated, folded, inserted and sealed automatically prior to mailing.

- Multiple paper drawers support up to six intermixed stocks within one collated document set.
- Digital, fully variable, four-color process printing can be combined with economical black and white variable imaging within one run, completely eliminating offline collating or expensive matched inserting.
- A production speed of up to 6,000 full color impressions per hour allows us to easily meet very demanding schedules.
- Inline collating and finishing eliminates errors and offers 100% job integrity.
