We recognise that transition management is a critically important discipline, particularly in situations involving the transfer of people and infrastructure. We also understand that every project has a different set of dynamics and requirements so our approach to transition is a flexible one and backed by a proven methodology. We are one of the few global businesses to have been accredited ISO 9001:2000, which governs implementation processes related to change management. We utilise a fully documented, comprehensive methodology to ensure that the transition process is executed in line with our client's requirements.

At the outset of any project a cross functional Transition Team is established to ensure that best practice is delivered on a consistent basis. This team typically includes representatives from both our client and GDS to ensure that every aspect of the transfer is taken into account and managed effectively.

GDS has an impressive track record in successfully delivering transition projects of varying scale and across multiple industries. In 2007, a transition team of 25 people managed the integration of a major Financial Services business with operations in Holland, Poland and Belgium into the GDS platform. This transition included the transfer of 850 people and 13 facilities and it was a major success.

We recognise that sensitively managing people during both the transition phase and the on-going life-time of the contract is a critical success factor. Our experience confirms that once the outsourcing intention is announced, there is an understandable element of uncertainty and it is important to address these concerns quickly and professionally. We utilise a comprehensive internal communications process including presentations, Q&A documents, one-one briefings and feedback mechanisms.

We also place a great deal of emphasis on managing culture change and ensuring that in-bound personnel understand GDS' core values. We invest a lot of time in helping newly transferred employees to understand the impact of the change in terms of their new roles in GDS and their responsibilities to deliver excellent service to our clients. After the initial internal communications phase we also make sure that we continue to keep our employees fully informed on how their specific contract is progressing, how their role impacts the overall performance of GDS and the steps that we are making to ensure long term success.
